Liebe Fusionaut:innen,
wir haben es geschafft!!! Die Genehmigung für die kommende Fusion wurde heute zugesagt. Unser überarbeitetes Sicherheitskonzept hat die Behörden überzeugt, die Polizei hat Ihre Forderungen nach anlaßloser Bestreifung und einer Polizeiwache mitten auf dem Festivalgelände zurückgezogen.
Ende Juni werden wir uns, allen Unkenrufen zum Trotz, in Lärz
zusammenfinden und es wird auch nicht, wie von uns zeitweise schon
befürchtet, die letzte Fusion werden. Also haben wir allen Grund zum
Feiern.
Ihr habt alle mitbekommen und verfolgt, wie sich die Geschichte in den
vergangenen 4 Wochen entwickelt hat, dramatisch wurde, am Ende die Presse Skandalöses aufgedeckt hat, aber jetzt doch noch einen gütlichen Ausgang gefunden hat. Der öffentliche Druck war gewaltig und es war schon
erstaunlich, wie unsere Forderung nach unkontrollierten kulturellen Räumen und einer überwachungsfreien Kunst- und Feierkultur in der Öffentlichkeit so viel Verständnis und Support gefunden hat. Das hätten wir uns nicht träumen lassen.
Wir wollen allen ein dickes Danke sagen, die sich engagiert haben, die
Petition unterzeichnet, diskutiert, gestritten und mit uns gekämpft haben.
Ganz besonders hat uns die große Solidarität hier in der Region gefreut,
von all den Menschen die den Kulturkosmos kennen und schätzen. Es haben
sich auch viele in der ganzen Republik solidarisiert, die das Festival gar
nicht persönlich kennen, aber die Forderung nach Einschränkung von
polizeilichen Befugnissen und zunehmendem Überwachungswahn mitgetragen haben. Allen voran die Medien. Nach über 20 Jahren Medienabstinenz sind wir mit einer guten und kritischen Berichterstattung überschüttet worden.
Das Interessante dabei war, daß “Die politische Dimension des Konfliktes um das Fusion-Festival” https://www.metronaut.de/2019/05/die-politische-dimension-des-konflikts-um-das-fusion-festival als direkter Angriff auf unsere liberale Gesellschaft verstanden wurde und somit nicht nur unser Festival von einer geballten Macht verschiedenster liberaler und linker Kräfte verteidigt wurde, sondern auch immer wieder die Frage in den Diskurs gestellt wurde, in was für einer Gesellschaft wir leben wollen? Diese Frage wollen wir auch in Zukunft stellen und mit unserem ferienkommunistischen Experiment weiterhin Modellversuche zur Überwindung des kapitalistischen Normalzustandes erproben.

Mit vereinten Kräften ist es gelungen, unseren Freiraum Fusion-Festival
erfolgreich gegen die geplante Dauerüberwachung durch die Polizei zu
verteidigen. Dies ist jetzt der Kompromiß, den wir gegenüber der Polizei
durchsetzen konnten:
Die Polizei wird auf dem Flugplatzgelände, außerhalb den von un genutzten Flächen eine mobile Wache in Form eines Containers errichten und dort rund um die Uhr für alle Besucher:innen erreichbar sein. Wir werden in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft einen eigenen Container aufstellen, wo ebenfalls rund um die Uhr, unser Sicherheitsdienst erreichbar ist. Eine Anlasslose Bestreifung, jeglicher von uns genutzter Festival, Camping- und Parkflächen wird es nicht geben. Auf das Festivalgelände wird die Polizei nur kommen, wenn wir sie rufen oder ihnen ein Anlass bekannt wird, der einen Einsatz erforderlich macht. Dann werden sie, möglichst in Zivil und in Begleitung unseres Sicherheitsdienstes, ihren Einsatz durchführen und danach wieder das Gelände verlassen. Wir gehen davon aus, daß diese Kompromisslösung von Seiten der Polizei eingehalten wird und niemand sie auf dem Festivalgelände groß bzw. überhaupt zu Gesicht bekommt.
Wir fordern daher alle Fusionist:innen auf, diesen Kompromiß mit uns zu
tragen und zu akzeptieren. Das bedeutet, wenn Polizei auf das Festival
kommt, daß dies einen mit uns kommunizierten Anlaß hat. Wir alle tragen
die Verantwortung dafür, daß dieser Kompromiß eine Grundlage für die
Zukunft der Fusion wird, daß Alles wie immer friedlich über die Bühne
geht und keine Provokationen diese schwer erkämpfte Lösung gefährden.
Das Festivalthema Polizei, Überwachung und Kontrolle ist nun mal gesetzt.
Als Motto der diesjährigen Fusion werden sich viele Möglichkeiten bieten
künstlerisch und inhaltlich damit auseinander zu setzen.
Die Polizei hat aber auch angekündigt, wie in den vergangenen Jahren
umfangreiche Verkehrskontrollen bei der An- und Abfahrt durchzuführen.
Breit An- oder Abfahren ist also nicht nur riskant sondern generell scheiße.
Wir freuen uns mit Allen, die mit uns in den vergangenen Wochen linke und
kulturelle Freiräume und so auch die Fusion verteidigt haben, daß wir
jetzt endlich die Genehmigung bekommen. Wir werden uns in den verbleibenden Tagen voll auf die Organisation des kommenden Festivals konzentrieren. #FUSION BLEIBT – zwanglos und unkontrolliert!

Dear Fusionists,
Well, we did it!!! The final approval for this year’s Fusion Festival has been granted today. Our revised security concept was accepted by the authorities and the police have withdrawn their demand for a station on the festival site and to be able to patrol the area without specific cause.
That means that we will all come together in Lärz at the end of June, safe
in the knowledge that – despite all the prophesies of doom – it will not be for the last time. We certainly have reason to celebrate.
You will have all followed the story and its developments over the past 4 weeks. You will have seen just how dramatic it got and how the press exposed all the nonsense. At least now we have arrived at a very civil outcome. The public pressure was immense, and it was just incredible to see how our call for open cultural spaces and a culture of art and festivity that was free from surveillance resonated so much in the public sphere. We could never have imagined that it could have been so well received.
We want to say a big thank you to all those who engaged, committed, signed the petition, discussed, argued and fought alongside us. We were particularly pleased by the great solidarity shown by those here in the region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – the people who know and appreciate the
essence of Kulturkosmos. There were also many people from across Germany who showed solidarity with the festival – even those who themselves have never been, but nevertheless supported our demand for restrictions to be placed on police power and the increasing fixation on more and more surveillance. Last but not least, the media. After more than 20 years of PR abstinence, we were overwhelmed with the standard of high-quality and critical reporting.
It was fascinating to see how the “political dimension of the conflict

came to be understood as a direct attack on our liberal society. That meant that our festival was not only thing to be defended by a concentrated effort of liberal and left-wing forces; much more so, this became about the crucial issue surrounding what kind of society we want to live in.
This is a question we want to pose in the future. And, with our holiday communism experiment, we want to test other models to try to overcome the status quo of capitalism.
Bye bye Polizei
Through coming together, we have succeeded in successfully defending the
openness and freedom of Fusion Festival from being permanently placed under police surveillance.
Our compromise was the following:
The police will set up a mobile station in the form of a container on the
airfield grounds outside the areas which we use and this will be accessible
to all visitors at all times. We will also set up our own container next to
them where our security service can also be reached at any time. There will
not be police patrols of the festival grounds, camping sites, or parking
areas.
The police will only enter the festival grounds if we call them, or if they
become aware of an incident which requires their intervention. Then, if
possible, they will enter in civilian clothing and will be accompanied by
our own security. Once they have responded to their call, they will leave
the festival site.
We assume that this compromise solution will be honoured by the police and they generally will not be seen on the festival grounds – if at all.
We call on all Fusionists to support and accept this compromise with us. Be
aware that, in the case that police do enter the festival site, it is because there is a reason to do so and we’re aware of it.
We all have a responsibility to ensure that this compromise becomes a sound base for the future of Fusion and that everything goes as peacefully as it ever has. We need to make sure that no provocations jeopardise this
solution, which we worked so hard for.
With that, the whole story of “police, surveillance and control” comes
to an end. As for the motto of this year’s fusion… well, there will ample
opportunities to deal with this artistically as we see fit.
This all notwithstanding, the police have also communicated that they will
be carrying out extensive traffic checks on arrival and departure, just as
they have in previous years. That means that being high when you arrive at
or leave the festival site is not only extremely risky, but also generally
just a shitty thing to do.
We celebrate with all those who have joined us to come to the defence of
free, left-wing and cultural spaces over these last few weeks. And one of
those spaces of course is Fusion – a Fusion that we finally have the
approval for. In the days left, we dedicate our time to making it the best
one yet.
